This iOS version of the game has since been delisted from Apple's App Store, however, its flowchart system survives in Zero Escape: The Nonary Games. This version - simply titled 999: The Novel - removed all escape room segments from the game, but added a flowchart not present in the Nintendo DS original. Written by veteran visual novel writer Kotaro Uchikoshi, Nine Hours, Nine Persons, Nine Doors was originally released on the Nintendo DS in 2009 and remained exclusive to the handheld up until 2013, at which point an iOS version was flicked out into the world. Zero Escape: The Nonary Games by developer Spike Chunsoft is a collection of the first two games in the Zero Escape trilogy, the first being Nine Hours, Nine Persons, Nine Doors, and the second being its sequel, Virtue's Last Reward.
